Ebbsfleet have signed former Liverpool and Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe. The 27-year-old is on the bench for this afternoon’s FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie against Slough Town.
Ibe has been training with the Fleet for a number of weeks, having started pre-season at Chesterfield. His last appearance in English football was for Derby in December 2020 against Stoke. “It was a few Christmases ago (when I last played), it’s been a long time since I've played but I'm grateful to the club,” said Ibe. “I felt like it would be a good project.
From speaking to chief executive Damien Irvine and the manager (Dennis Kutrieb), they are looking to help me and I've put my trust in them. “They told me it would take time, I've kept it discreet until I was fully fit or at least until I can get on the pitch.” Ibe made more than 50 appearances for Liverpool before moving to Bournemouth in a £15million deal in 2016.
He’s clearly delighted to be back involved in the game. “It’s everything I’ve loved from when I was young. i didn't even know it was a job, I just wanted to play football.
