A Dalbeattie curler has been chosen for Team GB at next year’s Winter Youth Olympics. Logan Carson is one of 36 athletes chosen by the British Olympic Association for the games, which will take place at Gangwon in the Republic of Korea from January 19 to February 1.

Logan 16 was part of brother Orrin’s rink who retained the Scottish Junior title this year, qualifying them for the world finals in Finland in February.

Logan’s team-mate Archie Hyslop, from Dumfries, is also heading to the Youth Olympics as is Dumfries’ Tia Laurie. Team GB Chef de Mission Eve Muirhead, who led the women’s curling team to gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics, said: “I am incredibly proud to be leading this year’s delegation for Gangwon 2024, and it is a huge honour to prepare the team for what is a formative event in their careers. “I’ve been to four Olympics with Team GB and have led a team throughout the majority of my curling career so I understand the emotions of performing on the world’s biggest stage. "I’m thrilled I can share my knowledge and advice with these athletes dealing with the pressure at this level.”
