Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from Manchester United training again on Thursday ahead of the club's pre-season tour departure at the end of the week.

Ronaldo, 37, is the only senior international not to report back for pre-season at United's Carrington training complex this week, with the Portuguese ace missing due to "family reasons".

The club said they accepted his explanation. The forward's absence comes days after it was revealed he is seeking a move away from the club after a terrible trophyless campaign that saw them demoted to the Europa League for next season. READ MORE: Three issues driving Ronaldo's desire to leave The Manchester Evening News revealed earlier this week that United's inactivity in the transfer market and a salary reduction are among the other issues that have convinced Ronaldo to try and leave this summer.

Despite Ronaldo's desire to leave United after only a year, some dressing room sources still believe he will stay at the club, while United figures doubt there is an obvious buyer for Ronaldo.
