Sydney van Hooijdonk has welcomed the possibility of a January transfer as rumours of a Celtic move to continue to swirl. The Dutchman has not had a happy first half of the season at Bologna and is playing second fiddle to number one frontman Joshua Zirkzee.
He's scored once in just seven outings this term, totalling 189 minutes across all competitions. Brendan Rodgers has been linked with making a move for the son of Celtic hero Pierre ahead of an Asian Cup headache in the form of senior strikers Kyogo and Oh heading for the major tournament.
Tuttomercato claim that Bologna are already hunting more firepower in the form of AZ Alkmaar's Vangelis Pavlidis. And it is stated "Sydney van Hooijdonk has expressed his intention to leave in January" amid the hunt for a new forward man.
It is caveated though that the hunt for the Greek hitman may not be straight forward. "Pavlidis is not economically easy to reach" with AZ's price-tag ranging between £12.8m and £17.1m.
