Cambuslang Rangers co-boss on 'biggest task facing club this summer'

dailyrecord.co.uk

Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell says their biggest task this summer is replacing hot-shot striker Scott Williamson.

The 21-year-old scored 50 goals for the West of Scotland League club last season as they raced to the Conference B title, and earned a three-and-a-half year deal at Championship side Queen’s Park.

Williamson has already netted for the Spiders in their Premier Sports Cup group stages, and Campbell says that form will be difficult to replicate.

They have signed veteran forward David Cox, and Campbell hopes others will step up. He said: “We’ve added Cox and he’s more than capable of scoring goals. “We’ve also got Jack McLarty and he didn’t really get an opportunity last season. “He scored 30 goals for Port Glasgow so he knows where the back of the net is. “We’ve managed to secure Jack and Coxy so once they get their sharpness up then it should be all good. “Big Scott Anson helped us out in defence last season but hopefully we can get him back to his usual position up front. “We’ve managed to add some bodies in defence so that will allow Scott to move forward. “We’ve got some really good options now. “It will be difficult to replace Scott [Williamson'] goal scoring prowess last season but we’ve got a few options and we will do the best we can.” Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
