Bruno Fernandes thinks Manchester United showed attitude, passion and character to beat Liverpool at Old Trafford. Fernandes was among those at the club to receive criticism after United suffered embarrassing defeats against Brighton and Brentford, but the midfielder bounced back along with his teammates against Liverpool to inspire the Reds to a memorable win.
United beat Liverpool 2-1 on Monday thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, and it was the perfect response to an awful two weeks.
Fernandes looked back to his best in midfield and he wore the captain's armband in Harry Maguire's absence. The 27-year-old spoke to MUTV after Monday's win and he described the mentality of the dressing room at the club. "Obviously a great night and a great result, something that we expect," Fernandes said. "To get these three points is massive for us, but now this game is done we have to look forward with this attitude, this passion, this character that we showed today. "The attitude that we had today, the passion that we showed, the desire to win the game.
Not that we didn't show it before, but I think in the last two games we could have added something more and I think today was the day we showed all of that together. "It was amazing, from the back to the forward guys it was a great game.
