Boy, 2, dies in hospital after being found with injuries at house

A two-year-old boy died in hospital after being found with injuries at a house last weekend. Emergency services attended the incident on August 19 following reports of a child being found unresponsive.

Police launched an investigation after attending the scene on Central Drive in Blackpool on August 19. The toddler was rushed to hospital but later died on Monday, August 21.

Daniel Hardcastle, 30, of Central Drive, appeared before Blackpool Magistrates’ Court charged with Section 18 wounding and was remanded into custody. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "An investigation is continuing after a child found with injuries at an address in Blackpool at the weekend died in hospital. "We were called by the ambulance service at shortly after 11am on Saturday, August 19 to a report that a two-year-old boy had been found unresponsive at an address on Central Drive in the resort. "Officers attended and the child was taken to hospital, but they very sadly died from their injuries on Monday (August 21) Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time."
