Australia lock Darcy Swan will miss the remainder of Australia's Test series with England, after being suspended for two weeks following his headbutt on Jonny Hill.The Brumbies second row was red carded after 33 minutes of last Saturday's first Test in Perth.
He had clashed with the England lock, with Swain headbutting Hill after the Exeter man pulled his hair.Hill was sin-binned for his role in the incident, while the Wallaby was shown a red card by referee James Doleman, before Australia went on to stage a late comeback and win the series opener 30-28.Swain has now been banned for two weeks by an independent disciplinary committee, meaning he will now miss the Tests in Brisbane and Sydney on 9 and 16 July respectively.The Australian challenged the red card at his hearing, but while the red was upheld he was still given full mitigation, with a further week removed from the suspension, which was deemed "wholly disproportionate" by the committee."The committee deemed the act of foul play merited a low-end entry point of six weeks given the provocation before the incident, low degree of force exerted by the player and that no injury was caused to the victim.
This resulted in a starting point of a six-week suspension."Having acknowledged mitigating factors, including the player's acknowledgement of foul play, clean disciplinary record, conduct at the hearing and expression of remorse, the committee granted the player full mitigation of 50% of three weeks," a World Rugby statement reads."The committee further determined that given the above off-field mitigating factors and that a three-week sanction would be wholly disproportionate given the level and nature of the offence, the sanction was further reduced by an extra week,
