Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick have quit their positions at Pakistan's National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, the country's cricket board has said.

Arthur was appointed the director of men's cricket in April last year, while Bradburn was made the head coach and Puttick the batting coach.

Pakistan's failure to make the knockout stage of the 50-overs World Cup in India in November prompted the board to remove them from the national team coaching staff and put them in charge of the NCA.

Former captain Mohammad Hafeez served both as team director and head coach during a recent tour of Australia, where Pakistan lost all three tests. "All three individuals informed the Pakistan Cricket Board of their decision to leave their respective jobs by the end of January 2024," the board said in a statement on Thursday."The decision was taken amicably between all the stakeholders." Arthur remains Derbyshire's head coach, a role he maintained while doing Pakistan duties.

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said he will quit his "cruel and unpleasant" job at the end of the season after his struggling team were beaten 5-3 by Villarreal on Saturday in La Liga. "On June 30 I will leave the club, it's a decision I have taken with the president, with the staff," Xavi told reporters. Champions Barcelona, third in the top flight, are 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid with their title defence virtually over. "The feeling of being Barca coach is cruel, unpleasant, it feels like people lack respect for you a lot of the time," said Xavi.
Former Pakistan cricket team coach Micky Arthur took to social media to express his thoughts about the pitches being used in the ongoing India vs England as well as the Australia vs West Indies series. Arthur praised the surfaces being used and commented that Test cricket can be 'exciting' if the pitches 'slightly favours the bowlers'. “Test cricket gets so exciting to watch when you have pitches which slightly favours the bowlers instead of just flat lifeless ones!,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The newly-appointed acting chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shah Khawar on Friday said frequent changes in the board are not responsible for the national team's poor on-field performances in the last one year. Addressing the media on Friday, Khawar asserted that there were several other reasons for the team's below-par showing. "I don't think changes in the board in the last one year have affected the team. It might be a minor reason, but there are other other factors and once the new board of governors is formed and the new chairman takes charge, they will look into this," he said.
A five-match Test series in 2024 is as rare as they come. England's red-ball tour of India, which begins on Thursday, is therefore significant not only because it offers fans a "traditional" full-length series, but also because it will be the biggest test of their eye-catching "Bazball" approach to Test cricket.
Ireland boss Andy Farrell says he's completely over the World Cup and looking forward to the evolution of his team.
