The decision taken by India to not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy has resulted in a lot of criticism from former Pakistan cricketers. While there was a lot of chatter regarding India's participation in the competition, the International Cricket Council (ICC) informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday about India's final decision. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez took to social media to say that it was a 'day dream' that India will come to Pakistan for the tournament before adding that although no other team had any issues, India thought Pakistan was not 'secure' for them.

The terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam, Kashmir, is being condemned universally. The tourist hotspot in Pahalgam on Tuesday was witness to one of the biggest terror strikes that Kashmir has seen in recent times. The victims were citizens from across the country, from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the south to Arunachal Pradesh in the east to Uttar Pradesh in the north, among others. Indians on social media from across the globe have asked the government to take strong action in the form of destroying the launchpads of terrorists.

Former Pakistan stalwarts Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Hafeez have clashed over a difference of opinion regarding the legacy left behind by Pakistan cricketers of the previous generation. Hafeez had stated that the era of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis failed to deliver an ICC trophy for Pakistan. Instead, he said that it was the Pakistan team led by Younis Khan which won the T20 World Cup in 2009 and left a legacy for the future generations. However, Akhtar has retorted at Hafeez's comments brutally.

The Pakistan cricket team's struggles on the international circuit have seen relationships turn sour in some of the current as well as former stars. After Pakistan's early elimination from the ICC Champions Trophy, Mohammad Hafeez took a swipe at some older stars like Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, etc. saying they didn't win any major trophies during that era. Hence, failing to inspire the next generation of cricketers. After receiving backlash for his remarks, Hafeez has backtracked, saying his comments were taken out of context.

Pakistan began the Champions Trophy 2025 as the defending champions, but they never lived up to the tag. In fact, they were one of the first teams to be knocked out of the Champions Trophy 2025, a tournament that they were hosting. The capitulation that Pakistan had, led to widespread criticism. From lack of intent in the players to zero planning by the Pakistan Cricket Board, none were spared. Even nineties' stars faced criticism. The 90s was a time when Pakistan won the World Cup and notched some memorable wins. 

Pakistan legend Waqar Younis has come out with a fiery response on social media after ex-cricketer Mohammad Hafeez questioned the legacy of the 1990s and early 2000s stars. An awkward incident on live television saw Hafeez saying that the 1990s and early 2000s stars could not inspire the next generation by failing to win a number of ICC events during their time. "I am a huge fan of those who played in the 1990s but when it comes to legacy, they left nothing for Pakistan. They didn't win an ICC event - they lost the (World Cups of) 1996, 1999 and 2003. We reached one final (in the 1999 World Cup) and lost that badly. As stars, as players, they were the mega superstars. But then they couldn't inspire us by winning an ICC event. Then came a difficult period that we had to go through and then in 2007 we lost the final (of the T20 World Cup).," Hafeez said during a discussion on PTV Sports.

An awkward incident took place on live television between former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez and pace great Shoaib Akhtar. During a discussion on PTV Sports, Hafeez questioned the legacy of players who represented Pakistan in the 90s and early 2000s, saying that they failed to inspire the next generation by failing to win a number of ICC events during their time. Former Pakistan pacer Akhtar, who was also part of the side during the 90s and early 2000s, was also part of the same discussion, but he seemed agitated while Hafeez was having a go at the former players. 

Former captain Rashid Latif has launched a scathing attack on Pakistan legends, who represented the team in the 90s. This comes days after Latif, in a separate discussion, urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to keep the 1992 World Cup-winning team away from the management. "It took 17 years [for Pakistan to win another World Cup] because the 90s players did not spare Pakistan cricket. Keep 90s players away from management and from the team as well then they will try to win. They have been serving Pakistan cricket for so long now. So, I think they should rest now," Latif had said on Geo News show 'Harna Mana Hai'.

Pakistan cricket team had a disastrous outing the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 as the Mohammad Rizwan-led side was eliminated from the semi-finals race after just two matches. Pakistan lost both of their opening games against New Zealand and India leading to their early ouster. The team came under a lot of fire with both experts as well as fans criticising the players for their lack of form. Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram was extremely critical of Shaheen Afridi and blasted him for his inconsistent performances. Shaheen took just two wickets in the first two matches of the competition.
