10 players charged in snooker match-fixing storm

The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association has concluded its investigation into alleged match-fixing in the sport with a total of 10 players facing independent disciplinary tribunals.All 10 players were suspended by the WPBSA in the last number of months while the investigation was carried out.Liang Wenbo, Li Hang, Lu Ning, Yan Bingtao, Zhao Xintong, Zhang Jiankang, Chen Zifan, Chang Bingyu, Zhao Jianbo and Bai Langning have been charged with varying degrees of alleged offences which would break WPBSA rules.Liang Wenbo has been charged with being concerned in fixing matches, approaching players to fix matches on the World Snooker Tour, seeking to obstruct the investigation and failing to cooperate with the WPBSA investigation.Li Hang has been charged with being concerned in fixing matches and approaching players to fix matches, seeking to obstruct the investigation and betting on matches.Lu Ning has been charged with fixing a match and being concerned in fixing matches and approaching a player to fix a match, seeking to obstruct the investigation and betting.Yan Bingtao, former winner of the Masters, has been charged with fixing matches and betting.The 2021 UK Championship winner Zhao Xintong has been charged with being concerned in fixing matches and betting.Zhang Jiankang has been charged with fixing a match, failing to report approaches for him to fix matches and betting.Chen Zifan has been charged with fixing matches, while Chang Bingyu and Zhao Jianbo have each been charged with fixing a matchBai Langning has been charged with being concerned in fixing a match.The players remain suspended from attending and competing on the World Snooker Tour until the hearings are carried out.No date has yet been set.
