Follow the Olympics like an expert with our daily newsletter

Not to alarm you, but the Paris Summer Olympics have arrived.

Competition begins Wednesday with some men's soccer and rugby sevens games. Canadians join the action on Thursday, including the reigning gold-medal champion women's soccer team. The opening ceremony is Friday. And then it's off to the races on Saturday (literally) as Canadian swimming phenom Summer McIntosh goes for a medal on the first full day of competition.

Clearly, things are about to escalate quickly. And you probably don't have time to figure out who, what and when to watch.

That's where the Buzzer can help. From now through the closing ceremony on Aug. 11, we're going to keep you up to speed on everything a Canadian should know to enjoy these Games to the fullest.

The newsletter will arrive in your inbox every day (including weekends) in the late afternoon or early evening Eastern Time — after competition wraps up for the day in Paris, which is six hours ahead of ET. We'll recap all the interesting things that happened, on or off the field of play, and look ahead to the key events coming up the next day.

If you're not an Olympic expert, don't worry. That's our job. Our daily viewing guide will let you know which Canadian athletes have a good shot at a medal and exactly when they're competing so you don't miss a chance to watch them live. You'll also learn a bit about their backstories so you can appreciate their performances on another level. Hey, you might even find yourself talking like an expert yourself.

If you're already subscribed to the Buzzer, you're all set. If you're not, sign up for free here. Just enter your email address, then make sure to open the confirmation email to get added to the subscriber list right away.

Now let the Games begin.
