Derek Adams shuts down Ross County regrets as he tells doubters 'you don't know the REAL Derek Adams'

Derek Adams denied he regrets taking the Ross County job, insisting he LOVES the club.

An interview immediately after Saturday’s shock Scottish Cup exit to Partick Thistle was interpreted as an admission he had suffered second thoughts over the wisdom of accepting the post. Adams, who returned in November for a third managerial stint with the Staggies, said he had encountered bigger challenges than he expected in the post, adding: “That’s the difficulty when sometimes you don’t do enough homework on it.”

Asked if that meant he would have had second thoughts about accepting the job, he refused to set the record straight. It came just a few weeks after a storm of controversy greeted Adams’ slating of standards of play he had witnessed since returning to Scottish football. But the County manager yesterday said: “It is a football club I love. I enjoy it, I love management.

“The circumstances that we are in at this moment in time are difficult, there’s no doubt about that. It’s up to us all to pull together to get moving forward.

“I’m delighted to be back here. I’ve managed here three times and been here as a player. No-one forced me to come back. I came here myself.

“I know in the era of social media it can get blown out of proportion and that’s for a certain reader, whatever it is, I get it. People undoubtedly have an opinion on who Derek Adams is, but they don’t know who Derek Adams is. There’s only people that I’ve known here for many years who know who the real Derek Adams is.

“What I’m portrayed as sometimes is totally unfair. It is not right. All I said, giving an honest answer, is that when you go into any business, you see things that are different.”
