The lie detector test was a infamous but central part of The Jeremy Kyle Show.
As family members, partners and exes attempted to thrash out disputes, they would often take a polygraph on air in a bid to exonerate themselves. On May 2, 2019, Steve Dymond, became the latest subject.
The 63-year-old was appearing on the confrontational ITV show in the hope of proving he had not cheated on his fiancee Jane Callaghan. But when the results came back, they were not what he had been hoping for.

An inquest into Mr Dymond's death was shown an unaired clip from the show in which Mr Kyle can be seen revealing the result of test. "The test says you are lying, pal, you failed every single question," he said.
As Ms Callaghan bursts into tears with boos being heard from the audience, a shocked-looking Mr Dymond says: "I wasn't, I have never been unfaithful."
Mr Kyle replied: "The studio thought you were telling the truth, I wouldn't trust you with a chocolate button mate." Another clip featured Mr Kyle telling Mr Dymond: "Be a man, grow a pair of balls and tell her the goddam truth."
After filming Mr Dymond,from Portsmouth, Hampshire, was said to been left 'broken' and 'distraught' A week later he took his own life.
The following day The Jeremy Kyle Show, which first aired in 2005 and ran for 17 series, was cancelled. It was ITV's most popular and controversial daytime TV show.
But Mr Kyle denied humiliating his guest and told the inquest he had tried to 'de-escalate' the situation. And today, following an inquest into Mr Dymond's death, a coroner ruled there was'no clear link' between his appearance on The Jeremy Kyle Show and his suicide. Coroner
