Zlatan Ibrahimovic was twice refused the ball despite scoring a hat-trick for PSG in 2015

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was at the peak of his powers at Paris Saint-Germain.

For the one and only time in his professional career, Ibrahimovic spent four full seasons at a club, helping himself to an outrageous 156 goals in just 180 outings for the French giants.

By the time that he waved goodbye to the Parc des Princes, he was the club’s all-time record goalscorer with three Ligue 1 Player of the Year awards and just as many Top Scorer prizes.

However, the Swedish striker didn’t always get the hardware that he deserved for his goalscoring exploits in France with a strange incident from the 2014/15 season continuing to stick in the minds of fans.

That’s because, remarkably, Ibrahimovic was once refused the match ball by referee Tony Chapron despite having scored three goals during PSG’s 3-1 win over Lorient back in March 2015.

It’s something of an unwritten rule in football that a player who scores a hat-trick is entitled to the match ball, but Ibrahimovic didn’t exactly have an easy time ensuring that it was upheld in Paris.

The PSG icon could be seen going up to the official at full-time and having no luck in his mission to collect the ball, before remarkable footage showed an exchange between the two in the tunnel.

Ibrahimovic can once again be heard asking for the ball, only to have his simple request delayed, prompting the striker to accuse the referee of wanting to look like a ‘boss’ in front of the cameras.

According to Eurosport, the exchange went as follows:

Ibrahimovic: “Ref… The ball!”

Referee: “Wait… Wait… I decide.”

Ibrahimovic: “Wait for what?”

Referee: “I decide my way.”

Ibrahimovic: “Oh, you
