Zhao Xintong and Yan Bingtao set up all-Chinese final in German Masters

Zhao Xintong won the last five frames to beat Ricky Walden and book his place in the final of the German Masters, where he will face compatriot Yan Bingtao.

Zhao had beaten world No 2 Judd Trump to reach the semi-finals, but soon found himself trailing 3-1 at the interval of Saturday's afternoon match at the Tempodrom.

However, the Chinese world No 9 then edged a close fifth frame 63-60 to start his comeback after Walden had failed to sink a green when looking well set.

Zhao, winner of the UK Championship in December, then reeled off two half-century breaks and a clearance of 100 in the ninth frame to secure a 6-3 victory.

Saturday’s late match saw Bingtao defeat Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen 6-4 after a tense finish.

Allen cruised past Fan Zhengyi 5-0 in the last eight and appears set to move back into the world's top ten following his run in Berlin.

The Northern Irishman set out his stall with a break of 75 in the opening frame and then moved 2-1 ahead, but it was Bingtao who soon took control of the match.

The 2021 Masters champion made clearances of 116 and 53 to help him build a 4-2 lead before a century from Allen reduced the deficit again.

Bingtao, who edged out Ryan Day 5-4 in the quarter-finals, took the eighth frame to only need one more for victory – but Allen fought back again in the next as the match looked set to go the distance.

During a tense tenth frame, world No 15 Bingtao then sportingly called a foul on himself for touching a red while cueing on the black as he was attempting to build a crucial break.

As the pressure mounted, both men missed opportunities to clinch the frame before Bingtao eventually secured victory on the pink to set up an all-Chinese final, which will be played as the best-of-17 over two
