Hungary U21s 1-3 Republic of Ireland U21s

Mason Melia became the Republic of Ireland Under-21s' youngest goalscorer in history on Monday night, hitting the net in a 3-1 friendly defeat of Hungary at the Pinatar Arena in Murcia, Spain.

Jim Crawford handed St Pat's man Melia his debut at the level and that faith was rewarded when he tucked away a penalty to put Ireland 1-0 up.

It was a record-breaking moment for the Tottenham-bound attacker. Aged 17 years, six months and two days, he beat the record previously set by Troy Parrott who was 17 years, seven months and two days old when he scored at the age grade.

Gabor Jurek levelled just after the half-hour mark, but another debutant - Conor McManus - stepped up to the plate on the turnaround.

The Brentford defender bagged a brace of headers in the 79th and 84th minutes to ensure the Boys in Green atoned for last Friday's 2-0 loss to Scotland at the same venue.
