You could get a DWP Cold Weather Payment if you live in one of these 116 areas

Freezing temperatures means that some people are now entitled to the government's Cold Weather Payments.

Cold Weather Payments see qualifying households receive £25 when temperatures falls below 0C for a period of seven consecutive days.

And with much of England affected by the cold spell in recent days, it means that people living in 116 postcode areas are entitled to the payment.

On Friday, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) announced that 48 more areas will receive the bonus, which is aimed at helping the most vulnerable people heat their homes during periods of extreme cold.

Previously 51 areas had been announced on Thursday, and 18 areas in Cumbria and Northumberland last week.

People on certain benefits will receive the cash, including Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Universal Credit and Support for Mortgage Interest.

To see if you will receive a payment, you can see the full list below.

No postcodes in Greater Manchester are currently on the list. However, areas in Wales, Derbyshire, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, and Staffordshire are among those where payments have been triggered.
