You can now get married at Afflecks Palace shopping emporium - yes, really

Fans of vintage finds and kooky anime cafés can now seal their love by getting married at Afflecks Palace.

The world-famous shopping emporium on Church Street has been granted a weddings licence for intimate and inclusive ceremonies with up to 30 guests.

Couples can choose to get hitched in the Japanese culture-inspired Animaid Café, pose for wedding photos in front of the centre’s iconic music poster wall or enjoy a platter of burgers and chips at the Afflecks Café.

Spiritualists, meanwhile, might prefer to share their vows amongst incense or spell books, whilst others may be up for an ice-cream inspired wedding at Ginger’s Comfort Emporium. If couples want to take things up a notch, there will even be an opportunity for wedding tattoos at The Studio or a pizza reception from Crazy Pedro's.

The move comes hot on the heels of Manchester Pride 2023 where this year’s annual parade through the city centre will take on a Queerly Beloved theme - celebrating ten years of marriage equality in England and Wales.

AJ Martyn, General Manager at Afflecks, said: “Afflecks has always been a place that embodies love in all its forms, creative freedom and equality - as well as a welcoming, safe space for all.

“The LGBTQ+ community has forever been at the heart of our emporium and we're excited to celebrate this year's Manchester Pride theme and 10 years of marriage equality by opening our doors to ALL couples who may be looking for an inclusive, creative, and unique space in which to say 'I Do’.

“We've always believed that love is love and we can't wait to welcome couples to our independent emporium and help them create an alternative day of their dreams
