WWE: The Miz & Damien Mizdow's partnership was comedy gold

The Miz and Damien “Mizdow” Sandow were one of the funnier double acts in recent WWE history, but a storyline that was eventually squandered.

The formation of the duo came after The Miz returned to Raw in the summer of 2014 after a two-month hiatus filming the WWE produced The Marine 4: Moving Target with a new gimmick, that of a Hollywood A-Lister (which he has largely stayed as since).

During his time away, Damien Sandow had transitioned from the “Intellectual saviour of the masses” persona to a celebrity impersonator, which set him up for his next role.

Soon, he was hired to be The Miz’s stunt double, at first taking most of his bumps in matches and protecting the “leading star” from all knocks, injuries and risks.

This then became a full-blown impersonator role as he mimicked all The Miz’s moves and mannerisms in genuinely hilarious and impressive fashion, rarely missing a beat throughout. This comprised matches, interviews, entrances and anything you could think of.

To his credit, The Miz also played his role to perfection, showing why he has been such a valuable member of the roster for 15 years.

This new role led to his name being changed to Damien Mizdow and the two becoming a successful tag team. At Survivor Series, The Miz and Mizdow captured the WWE Tag Team Championships in a four-way tag match.

Their reign lasted for just over a month before The Usos defeated them on the December 29th episode of Raw. Two failed attempts at regaining the titles and huge fan support for Mizdow saw tensions begin to arise between the pair.

Mizdow was demoted from stunt double to personal assistant and a series of losses for the pair in both singles and tag matches (all due to The Miz’s jealousy) left things at breaking point.
