WWE SummerSlam: Becky Lynch plans wouldn't have happened with Vince McMahon in charge

SummerSlam made headlines for a number of reasons over the weekend, including Becky Lynch’s face turn – but it wouldn’t have happened if Vince McMahon was in charge.

In the opening match of the night Bianca Belair successfully defended her Raw Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch in another epic chapter between the two rivals.

At the end of the bout, Lynch extended her hand to the EST of WWE as a mark of respect to the champion before Belair was then confronted by the new trio of Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky.

Signally a face turn for Big Time Becks, Lynch re-joined Bianca in the ring to side and act as back-up against the debuting faction.

According to a new report from Wade Keller of PWTorch, Lynch’s turn would not have happened under Vince McMahon and that is was a Triple H call to make the switch.

“I can now confirm Becky was not gonna turn if Vince McMahon was still in control. That was a Paul Levesque call. I just got confirmation on that. She would have been a heel as we’re talking right now if McMahon was still running things. So, one big change early on there.”

This weekend marked a year since Becky’s return to WWE and the idea of her coming back as a heel was something she was keen on doing. Despite fears that she was too likable to be a heel.

On the same show on Saturday, Ronda Rousey revered the role and turned to the dark side after her controversial defeat to Liv Morgan. Rousey snapped after losing the SmackDown Women’s title match and attacked Morgan and the official after the match.

With Lynch and Rousey’s roles now switched, the dynamic is perfectly pitched for the pair to finally have their long awaited one-on-one match at next year’s WrestleMania.
