WWE: Ronda Rousey escapes $100,000 fine thanks to Vince McMahon email

The SmackDown drama that unfolded on last night’s episode started right from the off as Sonya Deville stood in the ring with her arm in a cast.

As the WWE official opened the show, she addressed the attack Ronda Rousey landed on her last week.

Deville, who is used to running things over on the blue brand, did not take kindly to Rowdy’s actions.

Deville had announced The Baddest Woman on the Planet would be facing Becky Lynch at the pay-per-view in April, despite the wrestler herself not making the decision.

Rousey then locked Deville in an armbar and declared it would in fact be Flair who would defend her title at WrestleMania.

Last night, the official addressed Rousey’s attack, which she stressed would come with consequences.

“Earlier today, I petitioned upper management that Ronda Rousey be fined $100,000 and effective immediately, she be suspended indefinitely.”

The crowd clamoured as Deville delivered her speech but she was interrupted by her colleague Adam Pearce, who had an important message from Vince McMahon.

Pearce read the email from the WWE chairman aloud to a stunned looking Deville.

“Sonya, it has come to my attention that you’ve been taking matters into your own hands and abusing your power,” it read. “If there is one thing I can’t stand, it’s a WWE official who abuses their power. So now, I will exercise some of mine.

“Your petition to fine and suspend Ronda Rousey is declined.”

McMahon then ordered Deville not to lay a hand on Naomi throughout the evening, especially during her title match against Charlotte Flair.

Deville has been taunting Naomi for months and now the powers above have intervened.
