WWE Raw: Edge reveals shock retirement date in emotional promo after show goes off-air

Wrestling in his first match in Toronto since 2010, Edge beat Damian Priest in the main event of last night’s episode of WWE Raw.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the fact he’s now working a part-time schedule, Edge hasn’t been able to wrestle in Toronto, his hometown, since he returned to the ring in January 2020.

So Canadian fans were incredibly excited when it was announced two weeks ago that the WWE Hall of Famer would be taking on his fellow Judgement Day stablemate in Toronto on August 22.

Edge was clearly emotional last night, and after picking up the win over Priest, the show went off the air with the former WWE Champion speaking to the fans.

In footage that has emerged online following the show, Edge seemed to reveal that he plans on retiring from the ring next year, and hopes to do so in Toronto.

As you can see from the footage above, Edge said that WWE usually comes to Toronto in August of every year, adding that he hopes to see all of the fans there next year.

Edge then added that in a “perfect world”, he’ll wrestle his final match in Canada in August 2023, a revelation that came as a shock to many fans.

“So next August, I plan on seeing each and every one of you, and in a perfect world, we’ll all say goodbye to each other that night. Hey, that’s okay, man. This is the place for me to do it. I mean this when I say it — I love all of you. In case you missed it, I love being Canadian.”

Fans knew when Edge came back from retirement in January 2020 that he wasn’t going to be hanging around forever, but last night’s promo came as a stark reminder that his days really are
