WRU chairman faces public questioning LIVE: Updates from Senedd hearing

Welsh Rugby Union chairman Richard Collier-Keywood this morning faces public questioning by a group of Welsh politicians in the Senedd amid the union's plans to cut the number of professional teams from four to three.

Collier-Keywood, who is fighting to save his job after clubs called an Extraordinary General Meeting to try and oust him, will appear before the Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport, and International Relations Committee at 10am.

The committee will scrutinise the decisions being made by WRU bosses amid a huge public backlash, particularly from Ospreys supporters who find their team's future under threat. Collier-Keywood will be joined by community rugby director Geraint John.

Senedd members have already been sent submissions from the Ospreys' Supporters Club, highlighting their concerns about what is happening as owners Y11 Sport and Media thrash out a deal with the WRU to buy Cardiff. That deal could lead to the Ospreys losing its status a men's professional rugby team in Wales.

A huge campaign to stop the plans has been launched, with former players joining fans and politicians, while Swansea Council have launched a legal challenge to try and halt it.
