'Wow', 'It's Klopp...' - 44 y/o thrilled by who Liverpool could be signing next

Liverpool should act on their interest in Chelsea forward Timo Werner in the summer transfer window, according to former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.

The Reds have already added Darwin Nunez to their attack this summer, following the departure of Sadio Mane, but Jurgen Klopp might not be done there.

Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino have also moved on, so it could be that another new face comes in to bolster Liverpool’s options in the final third.

Werner is one player who has been linked with a move to Anfield, with the German potentially deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea.

Football Insider reported on Thursday that the Reds hold ‘genuine’ interest, although no official talks with the Blues have taken place.

Speaking to the same outlet in reaction to the news on Friday, former top-flight shot-stopper Kenny, 44, claimed that Werner would be an ideal summer addition for Liverpool:

“All the players at Liverpool work so hard for Klopp and they all produce. What Klopp has done at Liverpool is unbelievable and the players he has signed have turned into world-class players.

“If Werner was to come in, why is Klopp not the man to get him back to his best? What a club for him to go to, Liverpool, wow. We know he hasn’t been at his best at Chelsea, we know there is more to come.

“If anyone could get Werner back to that form we saw in Germany, it’s Klopp.”

Werner arrived at Chelsea with a big reputation, following 93 goals in just 158 appearances for RB Leipzig, but he has struggled to set the world alight at Stamford Bridge.
