"Would be a bit foolish" - Journalist now drops intriguing Harry Kane and Tottenham claim

Tottenham would be “foolish” not to draw up contingency plans for a potential Harry Kane departure this summer, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of their talisman; however, he continues to be strongly linked with a move away from the north London club.

As per The Athletic, Kane is a target for Manchester United, who are almost certain to be in the market for a new centre-forward once the transfer window opens.

Cristiano Ronaldo turns 38 next year, Edinson Cavani is out of contract at the end of the season and there are doubts surrounding the future of Marcus Rashford.

The above shows United’s pressing need for a new striker to be brought in before the start of the next campaign, and it seems that they have identified Kane as their No.1 target.

With Daniel Levy playing hardball with Manchester City last summer, though, getting him out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is likely to be a hard task.

Nevertheless, O’Rourke believes Tottenham manager Antonio Conte and director of football Fabio Paratici still need to be looking at some potential replacements in the event that Kane is allowed to leave the club this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “Ideally, I think Spurs would hope that Harry Kane would stay at the club, but they would be a bit foolish if they weren’t doing any contingency plans and drawing up potential replacements in case they did end up losing their star striker.”

Kane has a contract until 2024, so Tottenham are not in a position where they have to sell their most prized asset.
