Worrying update for Radz and Orta as key news now emerges on yet another Leeds United attacker

Leeds United winger Helder Costa looks set to return to Elland Road in the summer after falling out of favour at Valencia.

Costa made the move to the Mestalla in the summer and was playing regularly in Spain prior to the New Year.

However, the 28-year-old has started just one of their last 10 La Liga games. He is yet to score this season and has provided just two assists in 25 appearances.

Valencia have the option to make his move permanent at the end of the season, thought to be worth £16.7m, but that doesn’t look likely judging by a fresh update.

Sport Witness relayed a report from Marca regarding Costa on Tuesday.

They claimed that his role at the Mestalla has ‘disappeared’, adding that Valencia will not exercise their option to buy the Angola international over the coming months, with a return to Leeds becoming ‘clear’.

This update regarding Costa will more than likely come as a worry to Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta, who may have been hoping that the 28-year-old would leave for £16.7m in the summer.

He hasn’t had the best of loan spells away from Leeds, resulting in his Transfermarkt valuation dropping to £7.2m – the lowest it has been since 2016.

On that basis, both Radrizzani and Orta may find it difficult to provide the attacker with a new club later this year and also have worries over Raphinha and Jack Harrison, who have both been linked with summer exits.

Costa will be into the final two years of his Elland Road deal when he returns, which could make it difficult when it comes to recouping the £15m that they paid for his services.
