Journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested that the club may be forced into letting the Nigerian international leave at the end of the campaign as he is in the final 18 months of his contract.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It puts the pressure on Rangers maybe to have to cash in on him in the summer if they’re not able to agree on a deal.”

Rangers fans will surely be left gutted by this claim as it suggests that the gem could be on his way out of Ibrox before the year is out.

He has been in sensational form this season and the supporters will surely want to see the club keep hold of him heading into next season. In the Premiership this season, he has averaged a SofaScore rating of 7.11 in midfield as he has contributed with six goals and four assists.

Aribo has averaged 1.8 key passes and 2.0 tackles and interceptions per game in the division. This shows his ability to make an impact in both boxes as he helps Rangers on the defensive side of the game whilst showing off his quality on the ball in the final third to score and create goals, which is why fans will be gutted to see him leave.

His former Charlton teammate Ezri Konsa once lauded the midfielder, saying: “Having Gerrard as his manager at Rangers, that has made him go up another level.

“Joe’s style is unique. When I was with him at Charlton he did remind me for a while of a left-footed Yaya Toure. But you don’t get a lot of midfielders like Joe, there aren’t many around.

“Like Toure, for a tall guy he’s got such great feet. But that languid style he’s got is actually fairly unique in the game.”
