WorldSBK Most: Aegerter denies Ducati in WorldSSP Friday practice

Ten Kate Yamaha’s Dominique Aegerter was once again the lead rider in WorldSSP, as the 2021 Champion held off not one but two Ducatis to lead the combined Friday times at the 4.212km Most circuit.

The warm and sunny conditions delivered a consistent day for the riders to evaluate the new first section of asphalt, keeping the leading times close in the top three fight.

Aruba Ducati’s Nicolo Beluga was just 0.080 seconds from Aegerter’s best time, and full privateer Federico Caricasulo was third fastest on the Althea Panigale V2, 0.138 seconds behind the lead.

The ever-competitive Lorenzo Baldassarri (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) claimed fourth in the combined standings, 0.216 seconds from the early leading pace while stand-in rider for the injured Jules Cluzel at GMT94 Yamaha, Valentin Debise, was an impressive fifth.

The quickest Kawasaki rider was once more Can Öncü, putting the Puccetti in sixth place in the early rankings with Triumph’s gradual improvement seeing Stefano Manzi take seventh on the Dynavolt Triumph Street Triple RS.

Raffaele De Rosa (Ducati Orelac VerdNatura) was eighth, ahead of the second GMT94 Yamaha of Andy Verdoia and EAB Yamaha’s Glenn van Straalen completing the top ten. Niki Tuuli returned from injury and was instantly the best MV Agusta rider in 11th place.
