World Cup of Darts: Jose de Sousa's moment of madness in Portugal v Scotland

Jose de Sousa is an incredible darts player.

‘The Special One’ is ranked number seven in the world and has multiple PDC titles to his name, including a Grand Slam triumph in 2020.

However, despite his brilliance, De Sousa has produced multiple moments of madness while on stage.

De Sousa is notorious for being one of the worst counters the sport has ever seen. His mathematics is not his strong point, to say the least.

And he produced another baffling moment during the World Cup of Darts on Saturday evening.

Portugal were embroiled in a titanic tussle with reigning champions, Scotland.

After John Henderson whitewashed Vitor Jeronimo, De Sousa took the game to doubles after edging past Peter Wright.

It was in the first leg of the doubles match that disaster struck.

Portugal were in control of the leg. De Sousa stepped up with Portugal on 181. Scotland were on 199.

De Sousa looked as if he would leave a double after landing two treble 20s. With 41 left and with one dart in hand, all he had to do was hit a 1 or a 9 to leave his partner with a double.

But, in typical De Sousa fashion, he chucked in another T20. That meant he scored a perfect 180 and bust his score.

De Sousa looked confused at first when the referee shouted no score. But he then saw the funny side as he laughed about it with Jeronimo. Watch the moment below…

Speechless. Jose just being Jose
