We began Saturday with 16 teams left in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and by the end of the night we lost two following matches that were gripping for very different reasons.

Co-hosts Canada started things off with a 3-0 loss to Morocco in Houston, becoming the first of the World Cup's three hosts to go home. Then in the afternoon game, Paraguay fought a grueling battle against one of the favorites, France, in Philadelphia, but a second-half penalty from Kylian Mbappé made the difference as Les Bleus advanced 1-0.
