World Cup 2022: South Korea 2-1 Portugal, Switzerland 3-2 Serbia, Cameroon 1-0 Brazil
Switzerland advanced to the last 16 for the third tournament in a row after a 3-2 win over Serbia.
Switzerland needed a win to guarantee itself a place in the knockout round after beating Cameroon and losing to Brazil in its opening two games.
The team took an early lead, and although Serbia turned it around in the second half of the match, it wasn't enough to defeat the Swiss.
There were some tensions towards the end of the match as Swiss player Granit Xhaka -- whose family are Albanian -- was pushed by Serbia's Nikola Milenkovic. Both players got a yellow card as a result of the incident.
Serbia is now out of the World Cup, while
Switzerland will face Portugal on Tuesday at Lusail Stadium.
Cameroon was eliminated by the World Cup, but not without first enjoying a thrilling 1-0 victory over Brazil with Vincent Aboubakar's goal two minutes into stoppage time.
Aboubakar celebrated the goal by taking his shirt off, which brought him a second yellow card from the referee.
Brazil had already reached the knockout stage after victories over Serbia and Switzerland earlier this week, and is now scheduled to face South Korea in the round of 16.
The South American team finished with six points, the same as Switzerland -- but Brazil had a better goal difference.
