World Cup 2022 draw pairs England with Scotland, Wales or Ukraine
England could face Scotland or Wales at a World Cup for the first time after today's World Cup draw in Doha pitted the 2018 fourth-placer finishers with the European play-off winners, Iran and the USA.
Wales will play the Scots or Ukraine in the play-off final, which has been delayed until June due to the Russian invasion of its neighbour.
The tournament in Qatar will run from November to December.
Iran and the US have a long history of political tension between their countries but have met before, the Iranians winning 2-1 in the group stages of World Cup 1998.
Hosts Qatar will kick off the tournament against Ecuador on 21 November, whilst elsewhere Group E pitted two former world champions Spain and Germany against each other.
Belgium take on fellow 2018 World Cup semi-finalists Croatia in Group F, while reigning champions France take on Denmark, Tunisia and the winner of intercontinental play-off one, which will be one of Australia, the United Arab Emirates and Peru.
