Woman comes up with way to improve Wetherspoons gravy – but some call it 'embarrassing'

When we're peckish or indulging in a meal out, we expect our food to be just the way we like it. But would you go to these lengths when you're in public?

A woman has recently gone viral for her particular eating habits. While she didn't see an issue, her friends were left gobsmacked.

Vicki shared a video of her and her mate Shaz during a girls' night out on TikTok. They had visited a Wetherspoons pub in Ripley, Derbyshire, for a festive gathering. The duo ordered from the menu and eagerly awaited their meals.

Shaz's favourite dish is chips and gravy – but she's not a fan of Wetherspoons' sauce so she took control of the situation. In the clip, Vicki asked: "Shaz, can you just repeat what you asked the waiter for? "

In response, she said: "For a mug of boiling water and a teaspoon because Spoons don't do gravy any more, they only do chicken gravy and I don't like it."

Vicki then queried: "What have you got in your bag? " The gravy-enthusiast proudly declared "my gravy" as she held up a sandwich bag filled with granules.

Vicki found Shaz's trick highly amusing, adding: "It is never a normal girls night with me and my friends." But others didn't find it as funny.

In the comments section, one responder admitted: "Guys, I'm trying so hard, but I'm judging." And another wrote: "Never been so embarrassed."

Some stuck up for Shaz, though. While many branded her behaviour "iconic", others said they'd done similar in pubs before.

One commented: "My kind of woman. Gravy is life and I didn't know they stopped doing it." Someone else remarked: "This is iconic, I fear." And a third added: "This is the most northern thing I've ever seen."
