Wolves transfer news: Bruno Lage faces competition from two clubs in the race to sign Nikola Vasilj

Wolves are showing an interest in talented Bosnian goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj as Bruno Lage wants to sign cover for current number one Jose Sa.

Wolves are looking to bolster their ranks this summer and a new keeper is needed. John Ruddy has just been released by the club and will need replacing. And according to Football Insider Vasilj is on the radar.

Vasilj made his professional debut at the age of 17 for Zrinjski Mostar in his homeland. He remained in Bosnia in the early part of his career before joining German side FC Nurnberg in 2017. A switch to Ukranian side Zorya Luhansk followed before he joined FC St Pauli head of the 2021/22 2.Bundesliga season.

It is while with St Pauli he has really started to flourish. Now 26, his game has moved on to the next level and the scouts have been flocking to see him. His form has also seen him break into the Bosnia national side.

He has made five appearances so far and will again play in the forthcoming Nations League campaign. The reports claim that the scouts will again be present to check him out.

So if Wolves are interested they may have to move quickly to get a deal done. There is interest from elsewhere with a host of clubs said to be in the hunt. However Football Insider say the strongest interest comes from Wolves, Celtic and West Brom.

They say all three need a new goalkeeper and will battle it out for his services. Vasilj will be available for an absolute snip as well. St Pauli landed him on a free transfer and will just make a modest profit.

The report claims Wolves could land Vasilj for just £1.25million. St Pauli will not stand in the player’s way if a good opportunity comes his way. As long as the valuation is matched, which will not be an issue for any of the three
