Wolves star receives Portugal call-up for World Cup play-off
Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jose Sa has received an international call-up for the Portugal national team.
Portugal will play Turkey on Thursday evening (7:45pm) in a World Cup 2022 play-off. Fernando Santos' men finished second in Group A, behind Serbia in the qualification round.
Sa will now replace injured Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes. Former Wolves loanee Vitinha has also been called up to replace Ruben Neves after he suffered a knee injury in the Leeds United defeat last week.
In a statement released by the Federacao Portuguesa de Futebol, it read : "Fernando Santos called up Jose Sa for the World Cup 2022 play-off. The Wolves goalkeeper will replace Anthony Lopes who has been deemed unfit by the FPF Health and Performance United."
The 29-year-old's last international call-up came last November in the World Cup qualification stage. He was named as an unused substitute on the bench against Ireland and Serbia.
