Wolves 'might have to cash in' on £60m Molineux star

There are fears that Wolves may be forced to cash in on star midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, according to transfer insider Pete O’Rourke.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Molineux, and O’Rourke thinks a switch could be on the horizon.

The Sun recently reported that Erik ten Hag will make Neves his No.1 priority if he gets the Manchester United job.

However, since then, it has emerged that Arsenal also have the Portuguese maestro high on their shortlist.

According to Sky Sports, Neves is a top target for the north London club as Mikel Arteta looks to bring in midfield reinforcements for the 2022/23 season.

Getting Neves out of Molineux this summer is unlikely to be a cheap operation, though, with the same outlet claiming that Arsenal or any other interested party could have to pay up to £60m for his services.

O’Rourke has told GIVEMESPORT that there are fears that this could be the transfer window where Wolves finally have to let Neves go.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “There are fears obviously that Wolves might have to end up cashing in on Neves this summer. He’s been such a good servant to them as well. He’s helped them establish themselves in the Premier League.”

At this point, it seems inevitable that Neves will join either United or Arsenal. Both of the English giants are quite clearly fans of the player and have been for some time now.

The Sun claimed in January that United wanted to sign Neves during the winter transfer window, while a report from The Athletic last year stated that Arsenal were keen to bring the Portugal international in for the current campaign.
