Wolves make 'breakthrough in talks' over 42 y/o at Molineux

Wolves have made a breakthrough in talks to bring Queens Park Rangers’ Michael Beale to Molineux, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Midlands club have been looking for a new manager after sacking Bruno Lage earlier this month, and it appears that they have now found their man.

Wolves have had to consider Beale and a few other names after missing out on Julen Lopetegui.

The Spaniard was recently sacked by Sevilla and, according to BBC Sport, the job at Molineux was his if he wanted it.

However, Lopetegui opted against succeeding Lage, with his father not being well one reason behind his decision not to join the Premier League outfit.

With the former Sevilla manager out of the picture, Wolves have had to turn elsewhere and look at other options like Beale.

Barring any last-minute hitches, Jones expects the 42-year-old to become Wolves' next manager.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT this evening, the journalist said: "Wolves have had a breakthrough in talks and I’m told terms are pretty much agreed now, so we might see a resolution to this soon if there are no hiccups.”

It has been a forgettable campaign for Wolves so far, with the Midlands club sitting just outside of the relegation zone.

Their 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Tuesday was their sixth of the season, while Adama Traore's goal that night was just their fifth in the Premier League. To put that into context, no team has scored fewer times.

If Beale does take over at Molineux, it is clear that the first thing he has to address is Wolves' goalscoring issue. That, however, will be no easy task.
