Wolves: £50k-a-week star now 'set to stay' at Molineux

Wolves are set to be handed a big boost ahead of the 2022-23 campaign with both Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho set to stay at Molineux, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke. 

The duo have been pivotal to the club’s success since their promotion back to the Premier League and it is news that is sure to please manage Bruno Lage. 

The West Midlands side are currently in Spain as part of their pre-season preparations amidst what has been a quiet summer so far. 

At the time of writing, centre-back Nathan Collins is the only new face through the door at Molineux, signing from Burnley for just over £20 million. 

Hee-Chan Hwang has also made his move to Wolves permanent, with the club playing Red Bull Salzburg £15 million for his services. 

Names continue to be linked with the club, however, with Edin Dzeko and Goncalo Ramos strongly rumoured to be of interest as Lage looks to bolster his striking options.

But one priority will have been holding onto midfield duo Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho with the reliable figures ever-present in Lage’s side during his first season in charge. 

Neves, who is currently earning £50,000 per week, was strongly linked with a move away towards the end of last season with Arsenal and Manchester United among the interested parties, while there were also reports that Moutinho may move on with the 35-year-old’s contract expiring. 

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ve obviously kept Joao Moutinho and it looks like Ruben Neves is set to stay at Molineux for at least another season. So again, that’s big news for Wolves there to keep those two midfielders.”
