WNBA star says she would welcome a trans player to her team, and then says something even dumber

I've got another humdinger for everyone on this first Friday of August. Shockingly, it involves more lunacy out of the WNBA.

Weird. That league is always so sane!

Let's dive in.

In a recently resurfaced clip from May, Golden State Valkyries star Gabby Williams said the current "battle" right now for WNBA players is to make sure all trans athletes are allowed to play on the team of their choosing.

And for Williams, if that includes a WNBA team — Golden State or otherwise — then so be it.

"I would welcome a trans athlete on my team or against my team," she said in the now-viral clip. "I don't think it's a problem in the world."

Goodness gracious. What a time to be alive. For starters, Williams is half-right. Fair is fair, and I have to be fair here.

Of course she would love to have a trans player on her team! Duh. Golden State would be undefeated and would win every game by 50 points. As it stands right now, the Valkyries are doing just fine without one.

They sit at 21-9, good for third-best record in the WNBA. Doesn't mean they won't need some help come playoff time, though.

Anyway, back to Williams ...
