Winnipeg Sea Bears advance to face Brampton Honey Badgers in CEBL Finals

The Brampton Honey Badgers will face the Winnipeg Sea Bears in the Canadian Elite Basketball League championship series after both teams won their respective conference finals on Saturday.

Three-time CEBL MVP Xavier Moon powered the Sea Bears past the top-seeded Vancouver Bandits in the Western Conference Final, 107-96, setting up a best-of-three final with the Honey Badgers, who defeated the Niagara River Lions 91-81 for the Eastern title.

It will be the first time the league champion is decided by a series, moving away from the single-game format.

Game 1 is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET (CBC Gem, CBCSports.ca). The full live streaming schedule is available here. As the lower seed, Brampton will host Game 1 before the series shifts to Winnipeg for Game 2 and Game 3, if necessary.

Winnipeg native Simon Hildebrandt also scored 24 in the victory, while Isiah Osborne nailed the game-winning three-point shot to reach the target score of 106 at the Langley Events Centre.

Moon and Hildebrandt each hit four three-pointers to help Winnipeg win its second-ever playoff game.

The 31-year-old Moon returned to the CEBL this season after five years away.

Shamar Givance led Vancouver with 21 points, with Tevin Brown and reigning MVP Mitch Creek each adding 19 points in the loss. Brown had a game-high five three-pointers.
