Wimbledon: Who is rising British star Katie Boulter?

Britain’s Katie Boulter is through to the third round of Wimbledon for the first time.

The 25-year-old produced a stunning comeback against last year’s finalist Karolina Pliskova on centre-court and dedicated her victory to her gran, who passed away two days ago.

“I’m going to get emotional,” she said afterwards. “My gran passed away two days ago so I’d just like to dedicate that to her today.”

Having upset one of the pre-tournament favourites, Boulter will face France’s Harmony Tan in round three.

For those of you that aren’t already familiar with the rising British star, here’s all you need to know:

Born in Leicester, Boulter has made no secret of being a huge supporter of the Foxes and regularly posts snaps with her grandad at the King Power stadium.

The 25-year-old also revealed at last year’s Wimbledon that she loves watching England and that she hoped her matches didn’t clash with when Gareth Southgate’s side were playing at Euro 2020.

While this is the first time Boulter has reached the third round at the All England Club, she almost pulled off a historic upset last year as well.

The Brit faced second seed Aryna Sabalenka and took the first set 6-4. However, the Belarusian recovered to the next two sets and reach round three.

Back in 2019, Boulter was ranked inside the top 100 and reached a career high of 82nd in the world.

Unfortunately, injuries cut short her season and she eventually fell back outside the world’s top 200.

The Brit could well climb back inside the world’s top 100 if she beats Tan on Saturday.

Boulter celebrated her two-year anniversary with Aussie tennis star Alex de Minaur back in March.

De Minaur, who is currently ranked 24th in the world, faces Britain’s Jack Draper in round two
