Arsenal starlet William Saliba has admitted he would love to continue playing with Ligue 1 side Marseille next season.

The French defender signed for the Gunners back in the summer of 2019, joining from Saint-Etienne. However, he is still yet to make his first-team debut for the north Londoners, being sent out on loan in each of the last three campaigns.

Saliba has enjoyed an extremely successful 2021/22 season with Jorge Sampaoli's Marseille, earning his first cap for the French national team, leading the majority of Arsenal fans to urge Mikel Arteta to utilise him upon his return from the Orange Velodrome Stadium. However, the 21-year-old has now said that Les Olympiens is his club, something that will worry Arteta and Co.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, via GFFN, Saliba said: “My wish is to finish the season well, to leave on a good note in case I don't come back. It would be my pleasure to come back no matter what, it's not as if I know I’m not going to come back, it's Marseille, it's my club.”

The talented centre-back's comments will certainly worry the Gunners, who have played Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes in the centre of defence in the majority of their games this season. Rob Holding has also deputised for the aforementioned duo on occasion and the Englishman scored his first-ever Premier League
