Will microtransactions feature in Hogwarts Legacy?

Hogwarts Legacy is easily one of the biggest games of the year – but a concern for some has been regarding the possibility of microtransactions being included.

The topic of in-game purchases has always been a controversial one, with more and more leading gaming titles taking this route in recent years in the attempt to give players more customisable options to choose from.

For example, Fortnite provides this in abundance with skins, emotes and tags, just to name a few, in exchange for V-Bucks that can be exchanged for real money.

Something that was raised during the gameplay trailer that Warner Bros Games and Avalanche Studios released during the PlayStation State of Play in March was the customisation options and timers for potions, which raised a few eyebrows.

This is a sensitive subject, seeing as gamers are paying in excess of £60 for the game in the first place.

Avalanche Software have officially confirmed that no microtransactions will feature in Hogwarts Legacy.

This was revealed by Chandler Wood, the community manager for Avalanche and who is currently working on the game.

He said: “We’ve seen this question coming up and want to set the record straight. There are no microtransactions in Hogwarts Legacy.”

Wood, who appeared in the behind-the-scenes trailer for Hogwarts Legacy during the State of Play event, has admitted that he is even surprised himself about how good the game has turned out, replying “same” to a fan that suggested that Hogwarts Legacy is “better than what I dreamed about.”
