"Will be serious question marks" - Journalist drops Aston Villa exit claim on £16m Smith signing
Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes there will be “serious question marks” over the future of Morgan Sanson if Aston Villa sign a midfielder in the summer.
The 27-year-old has not been one of the first names on Villa’s team sheet this season, so you would expect the arrival of a new midfielder to push him even further down the pecking order at Villa Park.

Sanson has, of course, had his injury problems in the current campaign. However, when fit, manager Steven Gerrard has still gone with the likes of John McGinn and Douglas Luiz, like in the 1-0 defeat versus Eddie Howe’s side.
And it was also a similar theme last term after the former France U21 international made jus three starts under Dean Smith following his £16m move from Marseille. His season came to a premature end due to injury, making it a real frustrating start to life as a Villa player.
Given that he is already finding starts hard to come by, O’Rourke thinks there will be serious doubts about Sanson’s future if Villa sign a new man for the engine room in the summer.

“There will be serious question marks over his long-term future if Villa do bring in another midfielder, which I would fully expect them to do.”
It looks like that is the plan. They were eager to sign one last month, with Gerrard confirming that they had a
