Wigan Athletic, Rotherham United and MK Dons’ final fixtures compared

For a long time this season, Rotherham United looked like they were going to be the champions of League One but after a poor run of form that has looked increasingly unlikely.

The pressure from both Wigan and MK Dons has been there all season and in recent weeks the top three has started to change shape.

As it currently stands Wigan occupy top spot sitting four points clear of Rotherham and MK Dons.

Rotherham occupy second spot on goal difference with MK Dons in third but Wigan and Rotherham both have a game in hand which could see them create distance between themselves and MK Dons.

With only two automatic promotion spots, this looks like a fight that will go on until the end so here we take a look at all three sides’ remaining fixtures.

Wigan:

Wigan’s remaining fixtures are as follows:

Ipswich (A), Plymouth (H), Portsmouth (A), Shrewsbury (A).

Wigan face a tough final run of games with games against three teams in the top half of the league as well as three games away from home.

With Ipswich and Portsmouth having nothing to play for now this season, Wigan will be hoping they can travel to both teams and overcome them to retain their place at the top of the league.

Plymouth currently sit fourth in the league and only three points above Sheffield Wednesday in seventh so they too will be looking for wins wherever they can as the season comes to a close to solidify their play-off spot. However, with that being Wigan’s only remaining home fixture they will be hoping they can attract a large crowd to give them an upper hand.
