Why Erik ten Hag has nothing to worry about with Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo at Man United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has nothing to worry about when it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro's professionalism at the club.

The former Real Madrid pair linked up superbly on the pitch, as Ronaldo scored his 700th club goal after getting on the end of Casemiro's perfectly weighted through ball at Goodison Park. The Brazilian was voted as Man of the Match for his commanding midfield display against Everton, with Ten Hag handing the 30-year-old his first Premier League start.

Despite being muscled off the ball for the opening goal, Casemiro recovered superbly as he controlled the ball well in tight spaces and laid off a multitude of close-ranged passes. United's new signing grew into the game with every pass and in the end was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet himself.

The result was a welcome one for the Reds, as they put the disappointment of the Manchester derby defeat behind them. In the wake of the loss to Pep Guardiola's side, Ten Hag was sent a warning by former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood.

Casemiro and Ronaldo were seen in conversation as they sat next to each other on the bench at the Etihad Stadium, which led Sherwood to conclude that this was not a good omen for Ten Hag at the club.

Speaking on Soccer Saturday, he said: "For me, that wasn’t a good look, him looking at Casemiro there. If I was the manager and I turn around and I am watching them two whispering around, I am thinking, 'I’m not sure if they are on side.' Why has be bought Casemiro to the club?
