Who is Team GB swimmer Oliver Morgan in 100m backstroke final at Paris Olympics 2024?

Adam Peaty's swimming triumphs have made him a celebrity and a household name - and Oliver Morgan could well follow. Oliver - known as Ollie - didn't take swimming seriously until he was 18 but has more than earned his place in the star-studded Team GB Olympic swimming team.

He first burst onto the scene at the 2023 British Swimming Championships, winning the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke triple. He went on to break the British Men's 100m Backstroke record and was selected for his maiden Olympics in Paris.

The rising star, from Bishop's Castle in Shropshire, first began swimming competitively at the age of 11. However heading to university in Birmingham - paving the way for him to make a splash in the world of international sport.

As his Team GB profile, notes, since 2023, he "has only fuelled his experience and passion, helping Britain to a 4x50m medley relay silver medal at the European Short Course Swimming Championships."

A backstroke specialist, Ollie went on to break Liam Tancock's 15-year-old 100m British Record at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships to book his ticket to a maiden Games in Paris - clocking a new time of 52.70 along the way.

And he's a talented sportsman in and out of the pool. Before committing to swimming, he competed in the domestic Mountain Bike Marathon series, winning 50km gold in 2019.

He told Sky Sports: "If you asked me two years ago if I would be in this position I'd have said there's no way. I can't put it into words. It proves you don't have to be there as a youngster. I did what I enjoyed when I was young. I played football and mountain biked."

He now finds himself on the Team GB Olympic swimming team alongside
