Who is Louis Jackson? Manchester United youngster training with first-team ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Academy player Louis Jackson has been spotted training with the first-team at Manchester United in the build-up to their impending Carabao Cup third round tie against Crystal Palace.

Jackson, who turned 18 earlier this month, has already signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford and has been tipped for big things in some circles. The centre-back helped United win the FA Youth Cup the season before last when the Oldham-born defender was still only 16-years-old.

During his young career so far, the teenager has made 29 appearances in Premier League 2 and, aged 15, broke the record for being the club's youngster ever Under-23s player. That achievement still stands.

Capped by Scotland at Under-19s level, the promising defender has been mentored, along the way, by compatriot Darren Fletcher - someone who needs no introduction. Fletcher currently works as the technical director at United and his own sons - twins Jack and Tyler - have just signed for United themselves.

Speaking about Fletcher senior previously, Jackson told MUTV: "He's always asking me if there's anything I need or any help he can give me. He had an amazing career with Manchester United and with Scotland."

Jackson continued: "Any advice he can give me is a big help. He's a man I look up to and he's a great role model for the younger players like me."

The youngster has now been able to lean on the current crop at United for advice. Uploading several images onto his Instagram profile, Jackson was spotted training with the first-team before their Carabao Cup tie with Palace and got yet another chance to impress Erik ten Hag up
