Where to leave flowers and send condolences during period of national mourning

Buckingham Palace have released guidance for the public on how they can pay their respects, including where to leave flowers and how to send condolences.

In London, a memorial flower garden will be created in Green Park tomorrow and will be the main place for laying flowers near Buckingham Palace. In Winsor flowers can be laid on the Long Walk at Cambridge Gate close to the town centre.

In Sandringham, flowers can be laid on the estate and visitors will be directed to the correct location on arrival, and in Belfast flowers can be laid at Hillsborough Castle. Flowers can also be laid at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and by the Main Gate to the Castle.

Flowers can be laid at the areas either side of the City Hall entrance in Cardiff, and further information is available for all these locations on their respective government websites. For those who do not live near one of the Royal residences, your local community may have a place, such as a town hall or place of worship, where members of the public can lay flowers or tributes in memory of Her Majesty.

The Palace have also released guidance on signing a book of condolences. In the past, a physical book has been available at Royal Residences for members of the public to write in. However, on this occasion there is an online book, which can be accessed on the Royal family website.

Any organisation or person may open their own a book of condolence during the period of National Mourning, but the Royal Household and the government will not be able to receive them.
